Groundwater Contaminant Simulation

Groundwater Contaminant Simulation

A simulation of a buried contamination source consisting of barrels  containing Dense Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids (DNAPL) and Light Non-Aqueous  Phase Liquids (LNAPL).    The simulation is a pseudo-physical simulation.  Contaminant particles  follow either gradients provided by the groundwater surface (LNAPL) or  gravity and groundwater gradients (DNAPL).  DNAPL particles on contact  with an Aquitard tend to follow the slope of the aquitard and may move  contrary to the groundwater flow direction.  The simulation does not  fully conceptualize dispersion or other limiting forces to contaminant  transfer.  The simulation was prepared by Eric Xanderson (Eric@lorefolk.com) and  constructed primarily in Blender (http://Blender.org).
